FINANCIAL ASISTANCE
SCHOLARSHIPS & LOANS UNIT
- The Scholarships & Loans Unit administers issues regarding the welfare and finances of students in obtaining loans/scholarships or other assistance so that students are able to continue their studies despite economic burdens.
- The unit also aids students in dealing with documents regarding loans/sponsorships or aid in ensuring the process in completing related dealings is carried out with more ease and completeness.
UTS BURSARY SCHEME
UTS Bursary Scheme for Undergraduate & Postgraduate Program (for Sarawakian students)
Eligibility
- 50 % of the tuition fees will be automatically funded under the UTS Undergraduate & Postgraduate for Sarawak citizens, once they registered in any undergraduate & postgraduate study programme at University of Technology Sarawak
- Student needs to declare agreement on the Terms of Reference
Category 1: The middle IC number is 13 or 52 is Sarawakian (xxxxxx-13-xxxx) or (xxxxxx-52-xxxx) no need to apply (Auto applied by the system once you registered as UTS student)
Category 2: For those without the number (13 or 52) but with ‘K’ stated in IC or either one of your parents is Sarawakian you need to apply the Bursary Scheme for Undergraduate & Postgraduate

UTS Bursary Scheme for Foundation Studies
Eligibility
1.Recipient is a Malaysian and registered as full time Foundation Student of UTS.
2.The Bursary Scheme for Foundation students has 2 tiers system as following:
- Tier 1 (T1): Minimum 4As and better achievement in SPM and GPA 2.75 and above for the subsequent semester.
- Entitlement of T1: RM10,000 for full fees of 1 year Foundation programme with voucher amounting RM1, 000 for long semester & RM400 for short semester.
- Tier 2 (T2): any 5C credits of SPM and GPA 2.0 and above for the subsequent semester.
- Entitlement of T2: RM10,000 for full fees of 1 year Foundation programmed
3.Not receive any other full scholarship, sponsorship, fellowship or bursary during the duration of the foundation course unless with the prior written approval of UTS.
4.Sponsored students must maintain minimum Grade Average Point (GPA) 2.00 every semester, failing which they have to pay tuition fees for the subsequent. If they fail to do so, they will have to pay tuition fees for the subsequent semester.
5.Foundation studies consist of 3 semesters and the Bursary Scheme eligible as below:

6.Upon successfully completing their Foundation Programme, sponsored students must continue their study into a degree program in UTS and graduated with a UTS Bachelor degree. If they fail to graduate with a UTS Bachelor’s degree with UTS, they must repay the full bursary scheme amount to UTS.
7.If student fail to enroll in any degree program at UTS during the next undergraduate intake after completing foundation studies, they are required to repay the full amount of the bursary scheme to UTS .
8.Official transcript, Official result slip and relevant certificates will only be issued upon full payment of the tuition fees for the Foundation Programme if student fail to continue degree program in UTS.

UTS Bursary Scheme BP40 for Sarawakian (Bumiputera)
Eligibility
- For new Bumiputera student enrolled and registered into UTS in Undergraduate
- Cover up up to 80% of the tuition fee for the duration of the study.
- Parent’s household income under B40 and M40 ( priority to be B40)
- Must obtain a credit for Bahasa Melayu in SPM or equivalent at UEC / O-Level
- The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for every semester, in order to retain the scheme.
- Are not receiving other scholarship
- Quota 100 for Bumiputera student
- Student are eligible to apply loan from Yayasan Sarawak or PTPTN to cover the remaining fee.
- Minimum of CGPA 2.0 or equivalent in STPM, Foundation,Matriculation or Pre-University

- For new Non-Bumiputera student enrolled and registered into UTS in Undergraduate

- Must obtain a credit for Bahasa Melayu in SPM or equivalent at UEC / O-Level
- The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for every semester, in order to retain the sheme.
- Are not receiving other scholarship
- Quota 100 for Non-Bumiputera student

- Non – Sarawakian citizen student who registered in any undergraduate study programe at University of Technology Sarawak
